Geothermal

The first geothermal field that I visited was in Iceland. It left a lasting impression. The landscape was surreal and atmospheric. Cracks, sulphur clouds within the thermal hot pools of bubbling mud led to a fascination of this natural phenomenon. Photographs from this body of work have come from Bolivia, Iceland and Chile. Each field is different and unique. The photographs though highly atmospheric do not include the noise of plopping mud, the sound of vented steam or the distinct smell of sulphur. The natural salts have distinctive veins of colour which form crusts. The mud pot explodes randomly firing spurts of hot clay.
